If we, as individuals as well a community, can begin to acknowledge this crime rather than turn a Blind Eye and a Deaf Ear ‘not my problem, nothing to do with me, I don’t want to interfere, I don’t want to get involved, it’s not happening that much’ are all statements which are no longer valid. The power of these opinions and messages serve to protect and shield perpetrators and stigmatize victims.
If we make the choice to learn how to listen, respond and validate the victims rather than shunning or using them a Scapegoats, perhaps we can begin to build a Platform of Truth, Change in attitudes about this crime is way overdue, let us stand in Solidarity with victims in unity make change happen.
